Welcome to the Ocean Gate Yacht Club, a proud member of the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association (BBYRA) located in the charming borough of Ocean Gate, New Jersey! Membership is open to all.

Founded in 1909, OGYC has a storied history on the Toms River and Barnegat Bay.  We are an active sailing club, hosting and participating in numerous junior and adult sailing regattas throughout the year.  However, you don't need to be a sailor or own a boat to be a member because we are also a fantastic social club with numerous reciprocal agreements with the other clubs of the BBYRA, and many of our members have joined just for the fun!

There are many benefits to joining our club.  Here are just a few of the exciting reasons to join OGYC:

• One of our biggest attractions is our Junior Sailing program, offered in the June to August months, with a variety of options for new and experienced young sailors.  The junior sailing program is available to the children and grandchildren (ages 5 to 17) of members and non-members.  However, there is a discounted fee for the children and grandchildren of anyone who is a member of the club.  Learn more here: 2025 Sailing Program
• We often offer adult sailing lessons.  Depending on the course, there may be a nominal fee.
• The club offers boat slips and boat ground storage to our members at very competitive rates.  While there may be a waiting list for a slip, we do our best to fit everyone in.
• We have a variety of fun and entertaining social events year-round for all ages.  Some of our events are free of charge, while many others are priced just right.  Our summertime and big holiday events almost always sell out.  See our upcoming events here: Events
• Our club has a private bar for members which is open most Friday evenings throughout the year, as well as on Wednesday and Saturday evenings during the summer season.  The bar is also open during our social events.
• Members may rent the club for personal use at a discounted rate. Club Rentals  
• We offer a free continental breakfast for members on Sundays in the summer, followed by Junior Sailing races right in front of the club.
  

2025 Membership Fees

2025 Membership Dues: Please note that there is a different amount due for cash/check payment vs. credit card/Venmo payment.  The amounts below include NJ sales tax.

New Membership Initiation Fee:  There is a one time Initiation fee for any new membership, regardless of membership category, due upon joining OGYC, which is in addition to your membership dues. 

• Cash or Check Payment: $799.69 with NJ sales tax
• Credit Card or Venmo Payment: $823.68 with NJ sales tax and 3% processing fee

Important Note: Any new membership with OGYC initiated between August and December still includes the full initiation fee; however, dues are 50% of the annual dues listed above for the first year of membership.  Beginning the following year, dues will be for a full year membership.
